If you think that the three things we mentioned in the previous blog were the only ways that you can recover a stolen or lost item in the mail, you’re wrong! It’s important to file claims with the company that shipped your package. While we covered what you need to file a missing package with the USPS, there are a number of large companies that offer these services. We are taking the time to let you know how to do so and what you will need for other popular, large shipping companies…
- Contact FedEx: FedEx is one of the largest companies when it comes to shipping and delivering packages. If you’ve shipped a package through FedEx, you’ll find that submitting an official file is easier than most other similar companies. All you have to do is go online to the FedEx website, where the issue is generally taken care of within five to seven business days. However, it’s important to note that you cannot make a claim past 60 days. The only shipping method that FedEx doesn’t cover is packages that have been shipped through FedEx Ground C.O.D.
- Contact UPS: Contacting UPS about a lost or missing package is quite simple. If you think your package has been stolen or was lost, you’ll only be able to file a claim after 24 hours has passed from when the package was initially supposed to arrive. Once the 24 hours has passed, UPS will investigate your claim for you, and let you know the status of your lost package. Filing this claim if you shipped a package domestically is much easier than doing so for international packages, so be sure to check the website for differences in protocol.
- Contact Amazon: Unlike other online retailers, Amazon has its own shipping and delivery department. While Amazon won’t be able to send you a new item, filing an official claim will let you receive a full refund from the company. However, if the package is late and not lost, don’t expect to receive any compensation.
