Important Things to Ask Yourself, Regarding Your Security Company and Alarm System

National alarm companies say the following about local monitoring:
“You don’t want to be monitored locally — if a catastrophic event happened in Tucson your alarm company would not be able to handle it.”

Now think about it: Does that really make sense?

  1. Greater Tucson’s population is now over the million mark.
  2. Most of us know that fire and law enforcement statewide would be directed to the catastrophic event and alarm response from these agencies would be suspended.
  3. 800 numbers and long distance are the lowest priority calls. Emergency and Local calls take precedence.
  4. How many times have you received an announcement that all circuits are busy when you call friends and family on holidays? Do you think you would get a call through during a catastrophic event?
  5. Do you really want your alarm panel to call a long distance number or an 800 number?
  6. Do you really want to call an 800 number or a local number that has be redirected to a long distance number when you need help?

Here are some questions you need to ask before you go with a national alarm company:

  1. Is the company an American Company? Are you sure?
  2. Are they even monitored in the United States? Are you sure?
  3. Do they have enough of a contingency for a catastrophic event? On September 13th, 2001 one of the national companies were responding to a fire alarm in Tucson that had occurred on September 11th, 2001. The company was so overloaded with signals from New York they could not handle anything else. The company then decided they needed an additional station. The hurricane in New Orleans again covered up the out-of-state stations. Dispatching of alarms in Tucson were delayed for HOURS.

Again we ask, does out-of-state monitoring really make since?

Don't take our word for it — take this quick survey to see for yourself if a local alarm company would better serve you than an out-of-state one.
