alarm companies say the following about local monitoring:
“You don’t want to be monitored locally —

they have enough of a contingency for a catastrophic event?
On September 13th, 2001 one of the national companies were
responding to a fire alarm in Tucson that had occurred on
September 11th, 2001. The company was so overloaded with
signals from New York they could not handle anything else.
The company then decided they needed an additional station.
The hurricane in New Orleans again covered up the out-of-state
stations. Dispatching of alarms in Tucson were delayed for
HOURS.
Again
we ask, does out-of-state monitoring really make since?
